Все операционные системы семейства Linux имеют четко разграниченные права доступа. В своей домашней директории пользователь может делать все, что ему угодно, до тех пор, пока укладывается в отведенные рамки. Попытка выйти за них приводит к появлению ошибки «Permission Denied».

Изменение прав в терминале

Рассмотрим вариант, в котором необходимо прочесть текстовый документ, созданный другим пользователем. Файлы TXT в Linux можно просматривать непосредственно в терминале с помощью команды «cat».

Заходим в каталог с интересующим нас документом. Набираем команду «cat filename», подставляя вместо «filename» имя нужного файла. На скриншоте показана ошибка «Permission Denied», выглядящая в русской локализации как «Отказано в доступе».

Получаем ошибку «Permission Denied» при попытке просмотреть содержимое файла

Проверяем права доступа к документу используя команду «ls -l»

Используем команду «chmod» и административные права для получения доступа

Просматриваем содержимое текстового документа командой «cat»

Изменение прав в файловом менеджере

Разберемся, как выполнить рассмотренную выше операцию в графическом интерфейсе, используя файловый менеджер из дистрибутива.

Как видно на скриншоте, значок файла изначально имеет дополнительные символы, указывающие на то, что доступ у нему ограничен. При попытке посмотреть содержимое получаем графический вариант ошибки «Permission Denied».

При попытке открыть текстовый документ получаем ошибку «Permission Denied»

Открываем меню «Файл» и перезапускаем файловый менеджер от имени root

Набираем пароль root в окне аутентификации

Открываем параметры файла с помощью контекстного меню

На вкладке «Права» разрешаем доступ для группы root и остальных пользователей

Открываем ранее недоступный файл в режиме чтения и изучаем содержимое

В заключение

Как видим, избавиться от ошибки Permission Denied достаточно просто. Решив изменить правда доступа к системным файлам, лишний раз убедитесь, что полностью уверены в своих действиях и понимаете последствия вносимых изменений.

basic-information for bug-reports: What you did (with which operating system & version), what you wanted to happen, and what actually happened.

Maybe you are using Linux (Ubuntu?), so you installed «zsh» via package-manager? Switch to TTY via [Strg]+[Alt]+[Fn](n = 1..6) and login as root remove & reinstall zsh via «apt-get purge zsh && apt-get install zsh» .

OS : mac OS X 10.9.5

i have removed zsh from /bin and reinstall it via http://sourceforge.net/projects/zsh/files/

what i wanted to happen? i want to log normally in my terminal.
what actually happened? i can not write any command since the message:
» login: -zsh: Permission denied [Process completed]» has appeared.

I have to mention that same message appear when i use bash instead of zsh.

You probably messed up the binary’s permissions, install zsh via homebrew or use dash to change permissions, like this guy here that used iTerm2 but using /bin/sh —login instead of the zsh he uses.

Then do a ls -l /bin and post the results.

zsh is a directory (notice the first d letter). It should be a binary like bash is..

It’s also a symlink to somewhere ( ls -lL /bin/zsh to see where it points), and it has the wrong owner ( chmod root /bin/zsh to fix)

I just started using ubuntu last week Friday and i installed oh-my-zsh yesterday. I am learning Ruby and i need to set environment variables. Some links i found on google stated i access .zshrc but i get permission denied. How do i got about it?

This looks fine, where exactly do you get the permission denied message?
Post it and post the content of the zshrc file too.

The zshrc file is not meant to be executed, but sourced. BTW, when I say zshrc file I actually mean the one in your home directory, you don’t need to edit the global one (the one in /etc)

Regardless of that, zsh automatically reads it when you run zsh, so there’s no need to execute it or source it explicitly, it’s done automatically. By the look of your prompt I’d assume that you have the robbyrussell theme enabled, so the zshrc file was correctly read.

Now, I don’t know what environment variables you need to set, but the way to go about is the following:

• Edit the zshrc file and put the appropriate export statements at the end of the zshrc file (e.g. export RUBY_PATH=$HOME/ruby ).
• Close and reopen the terminal and the env variables should be set at the start. Verify with ‘echo’ (e.g. echo $RUBY_PATH ).
