Беспроводной PCI-адаптер Orient WP61R
В данном обзоре мы рассмотрим беспроводной PCI-адаптер нижнего ценового сегмента Orient WP61R. На момент написания данного обзора, данный беспроводной адаптер можно было приобрести в московской рознице по цене ниже $20. Что же из себя представляет данный “агрегат”…

Беспроводной PCI-адаптер выполнен на базе чипсета Realtek RTL8185 (аппаратная поддержка WEP, TKIP и AES шифрования, поддержка режима Turbo на скорости 72 Мбит/с).
Конфигурация:
Конфигурацию беспроводного адаптера можно осуществлять с помощью утилиты Windows Zero Config, встроенную в ОС Windows XP или с помощью собственной утилиты настройки, которую мы рассмотрим в данном разделе.
Используемые при тестировании данного беспроводного адаптера версии драйверов и утилиты были скачаны с сайта Realtek (здесь). Сразу скажу, что при использовании драйвера и утилиты настройки, идущих на диске в комплекте с устройством, мне не удалось использовать подключение в режиме AdHoc на скорости 54 Мбит/с (подключение производилось только на скорости 11 Мбит/с). Обновление только версии драйвера устройства также не исправило данную ситуацию (при использовании для настройки старой версии утилиты настройки), а помогло только комплексное обновление драйвера и утилиты.

Большая часть настроек, как обычно, стандартна почти для всех беспроводных устройств.
Использование режима Turbo, позволяющего производить подключение на скорости 72 Мбит/с вместо 54, судя по тестам, возможно только в режиме Infrastructure. Его использование в режиме AdHoc никак не отражалось ни на скорости подключения, ни на скорости трафика. Также возможен выбор региона или используемого для региона стандарта — от этого зависит сколько каналов беспроводной связи можно использовать.
При переводе беспроводного адаптера в режим “программной точки доступа”, утилиты настройки начинает мягко говоря “сильно тормозить”, а после установки беспроводного соединения IP-трафик по каким-то причинам не смог идти через установленное соединение. Отмечу, что при использовании утилиты и драйвера, поставляемых на CD-диске вместе с устройством (напомню, что на диске более старые версии драйвера и утилиты настройки), возможность использования режима “программной точки доступа” не предусматривалась вовсе, так что и в документации данная возможности никак не описывается.
Тестирование производительности
Были проведены следующие тесты:
- Тест “PCI-адаптер — PCI-адаптер, режим AdHoc”
Тест “PCI-адаптер — PCI-адаптер, режим AdHoc” — трафик гонялся между 2-мя одинаковыми PCI-адаптерами Orient WP61R, соединенными в режиме AdHoc. Тестирование проводилось в режиме IEEE 802.11b и IEEE 802.11g. Расстояние между точками не превышало 5-ти метров.
Максимальные скорости: 4,90 Мбит/с в режиме IEEE 802.11b и 23,75 Мбит/с в режиме IEEE 802.11g. В обоих режимах наблюдается хорошая производительность (хотя в режиме IEEE 802.11b она могла бы быть повыше). Никаких особых нареканий работы беспроводных адаптеров не вызвала.
Доступность
Выводы:
Как видим, беспроводная связь становится все доступнее, цены на нее все падают. Связано это с тем, что уже на рынке появляются устройства, использующие предварительную версию стандарта IEEE 802.11n, однако, так как стандарт еще не принят, оборудование различные производителей может оказаться несовместимым, поэтому оборудование стандарта IEEE 802.11g по прежнему остается актуальным.
Что же касается конкретно рассмотренного устройства, то для его нормальной работы первым делом потребуется обновить версию драйвера и утилиты настройки — не сделав этого, устройство сможет работать в режиме AdHoc на скорости не выше 11 Мбит/с. Новая версия ПО дает возможность производить подключение в режиме AdHoc на скорости 54 Мбит/с, а также использовать устройство в качестве программной точки доступа, но лично мне не удалось добиться работы оборудования в данном режиме (отмечу, что компанией Orient данная возможность и вовсе не заявлена).
