I have just updated my OS from Win7 Pro to Win10 Pro.
I have checked the hardware in System Info and I saw that the SAS controller has nomore a correct driver installed to work.
In the support page I’ve not found any new release of the SAS drivers for Win10.
How can I solve the problem?
It’s the missing driver a big problem?
Thank you in advance.

Did you try the lastest driver for the model SAS controller your PC has?
Sometimes the W7/W8 or whatever drivers will work on W10.
You may have to manually install the driver from the device manager.
Do you know what model SAS controller you need the driver for?

Well, I didn’t try to install any driver for Win7 or 8. As the drivers were already installed I supposed that after the upgrade they didn’t were uninstalled. I have to suppose that if Win10 uninstalled the drivers they don’t work with Win 10.
Unfortunatley I don’t know which model of SAS controller I have installed. Do you know a way to know it?

Many times the older drivers will work on W10. All we can do is try.
I upgraded a HP nc6400 notebook PC to W10 (only has drivers for Vista) and there were many devices that needed drivers.
I just used the Vista drivers, and my nc6400 works just fine on W10. All drivers installed and devices working,
Please post the hardware ID for the SAS Controller that needs the driver.
To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the SAS Controller needing the driver.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the SAS Controller window.
Now you should see a Property drop down list and it will be set to Device Description.
Drop down on that list and select the 3rd item (Hardware ID’s).
Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.
It should just be a matter of reinstalling the correct driver for that model controller.
Like I said, you may have to manually install it.

You’re very welcome.
I have zipped up and attached the SAS Controller driver for that ID toward the bottom of this reply.
You will have to manually install it.
Download and unzip the file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager and click on the SAS Controller needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
Then reboot the PC.
This is the driver I got the file from on your PC’s support and driver page.
Here is a partial copy and paste of the hardware ID’s supported by this driver.

Hi Paul Tikkanen,
Can you give a help on this?
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
SAS Controller isn’t using any resources because it has a problem.
Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1D6B&SUBSYS_158B103C&REV_05\4&c64b517&0&0088 requires further installation.

That is not the LSI SAS2308 controller you need the driver for.
You need this driver.
This package contains the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise (RSTe) Drivers and Graphical User Interface (GUI) for serial ATA (SATA) RAID controllers in supported workstation models that are running a supported Microsoft Windows Operating System.

Says I had a newer version already installed and, even installing this older one, the problem persists. Any other way I can fix it?

Try manually installing the driver as follows.
Go to the device manager and click on the device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab.
Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp98397
Make sure the include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
Here is a partial copy and paste of the driver setup information file which shows driver support for the hardware ID you posted.

You’re very welcome.
Here is the link to the driver you need.
This package contains the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise (RSTe) Drivers and Graphical User Interface (GUI) for serial ATA (SATA) RAID controllers in supported workstation models that are running a supported Microsoft Windows Operating System.
You may have to manually install the driver if the auto install method doesn’t work.
Do not be concerned about the AHCI being deactivated report from the Samsung software.
There is full TRIM support in the mode your PC is running in.
You can TRIM the drive in W10 by running the defragment and optimize drives program.
It will not defragment the drive, it will TRIM it, because W10 knows when a SSD is installed.

Thank you, that worked.
I already ‘TRIMed’ it, I wasn’t sure why the AHCI Mode appears to be Deactivated.
Thank you again,

Glad to have been of assistance.
You get that report on any PC unless it is an Intel based one with an AHCI mode setting only.
IMO, Samsung should modify the software to remove that report.
You even get that report on AMD PC’s with AHCI enabled.
The only time the report would be relevant is if someone installed a SSD with a PC that only had an IDE controller setting.

Roger that, good to know.
It might be a stretch but could you point me to the latest BIOS version for this Motherboard?
( hp 1589 c602 motherboard from the Z240 — 2012)
Or just share a link to where I could find all the stuff related to it (drivers & everything) then I won’t be bothering people for every piece of driver I can’t find.
Thank you again.

I realize this thread is a year old, but couldn’t find anywhere else this issue was being discussed, so I’m trying to revive it:
Just did a clean Win10Pro (v1803) install on a Z420 and saw the missing SAS driver. I downloaded SP72212 from HP’s support site, but when I tried to install it I got the following warning:
«This computer currently contains driver versions newer than the versions you are about to install. Are you sure you want to overwrite the following drivers with the older versions?»
Intel(R) C600+/C220+ series chipset SATA RAID Controller (15.44.0.1010).
The 1803 version of Win10 comes with a 2018 version of the SATA RAID controller, but SP72212 is gonna overwrite that with a 2015 version (4.3.9.1198) when it runs the install (since it appears to install BOTH the SATA RAID & the SAS Controller drivers).
I looked around but couldn’t find a 2018 SAS Controller driver to match the existing SATA RAID driver.

Fixes
- Fixed an issue where I/O errors could occur while running I/O operations on JBODs.
- Fixed an issue where the device driver is coalescing across stripe, resulting in performance degradation.
- Fixed an issue where the device driver timer is not resetting back to zero after a proper timeout period.
- Fixed an issue with ServeRAID M5000 series controllers where a blue screen occurs on triggering online controller rate reset.
- Fixed an issue where the file version and the product version in the device driver properties do not synchronize.
- Fixed an issue where I/O operations are still blocked, after the online controller rate is reset.
