The Samsung ML-2160 printer is the first member of the ML-2160 Samsung printer series. By physical measurements of its sides, it has a width of 13.07 inches and a depth of 8.46 inches. Whereas, the height reaches about 7.01 inches, while the weight is up to 10.91 lbs. The equivalent weight is about 4.95 kg. It produces noise according to the current model. For instance, when in the active mode, the noise level is below 26 dB (A). But when at the printing mode, the noise level reaches 50 dB (A).

Similarly, before this printer could yield productively and at optimum performance, certain environmental factors must be in place. For example, during operation, the acceptable temperature range is between 10 and 32 0 C. Whereas, when the machine is in storage, the temperature range is between -20 and 40 0 C. Also, relative humidity should remain between 10 and 80% without condensation, when in operation. And the packed printer can be in an environment with RH of 20 to 95% without condensation.

There are two classic model groups in this family; the 110 volts models and the 220 volts models. The former allows a power range between 110 to 127 volts, and the latter permits 220 to 240 volts. However, the power consumption of the machine mainly depends on the current processes in it. For instance, the normal operating mode consumes less than 310 watts of power, while the effective method uses 30 watts. Furthermore, the power save mode uses less than 0.9 watts, while the power off mode requires 0.45 watts.

The sound pressure and the power ratings are following the ISO 7779 printer standard. Also, it has a tested configuration with necessary machine installation and paper compatibility. I asked it because my printer only prints the first job after starting the printer. But I’ll try myself if this issue is gone using the newer driver.

I am not upgrading this package because last time I tried the latest version I was having issues with printing. Sorry.

Please, tell me why you want to upgrade. If it works for you, then refrain from complaining. It is a printer driver: you don’t need the latest and the greatest, you just need it to work. And it does flawlessly.

Thanks for this package!
For the record, it also works for ML-2165 (most of the first times after restarting the printer 🙁 ).
ML-2160.ppd is also provided by UnifiedLinuxDriver_1.01.tar.gz that can be downloaded from http://www.samsung.com/nl/support/model/ML-2160/SEE-downloads (new version (v4.00.35) of the same file, the tarball also contains an other version of rastertosamsungspl (different MD5s)).
BTW, shouldn’t the ppd file be installed in /usr/share/cups/model/samsung/ instead of in /usr/share/cups/model/?

Нужен драйвер для принтера samsung ml-2160

Нужен драйвер для принтера самсунг ml-2160 для линукс роса.
Когда устанавливаю принтер открываю список а там нет драйвера для моего принтера.
Скачиваю драйвер с сайта производителя, указываю папку установки, а он все равно не пашет!
В чем проблема? Подскажите если кто знает!

использую роса r5 gnome

захожу в настройки.
там значок принтеры. запускаю его. и оттуда произвожу установку. не из командной строки

нашел на другом форуме. у людей похожая ситуация. для этого принтера на данный момент есть только универсальный драйвер для линукса. другие тоже пытались ставить но принтер не печатает. видать пока нет нормальных драйверов для него под линукс

техническая поддержка самсунг посоветовала вот такой вариант. говорят что все должно сработать с универсальным драйвером под этот принтер

и еще сказали что драйвер 100% рабочий и если он не ставится из настройки принтеров предусмотренной в росе с указанием пути к папке с драйвером через оконный интерфейс а не с консоли то тут говорят что глюк в самой оси а не в драйвере

ну а графический интерфейс для чего придумали? для обычного рядового не очень продвинутого пользователя через графический интерфейс куда понятнее и роднее.
консоль для более продвинутых

эт понятно что теперь придется с консоли ставить раз по другому не работает.

а то что драйвера не ставятся через графический интерфейс это не проблема, это типа все нормально и так все и должно быть?!
вот уж не знал спасибо что растолковали!

Samsung ML-2160 printer install

I need help a brand new Samsung ML-2160 printer installation on Ubuntu 12.04

The printer did not print all though it was recognized by my system and was labeled as «installed». Using different drivers (picked from list of drivers) didn’t help.

I didn’t know how to install the driver downloaded from Samsung but did it later very easily using sudo ./install.sh in download destination folder.

Extract the unified driver in home

Open terminal and type the 3 comands

cd

/cdroot

ls

sudo ./autorun

Application installation starts, just follow the steps.

Use ML-1660 driver from Ubuntu 12.04 instead of recommended ML2152 and printing will be OK!

I suggest to use the slightly adjusted and packaged up version of the Samsung driver. It provides an easier way of installing it (just using packages) and some fixes for recent versions of Ubuntu like Apparmor with Cups, etc.

On my system (32 bit) the install script continued to think that some component is missing, although I had installed sane, ghostscript and cusp. After some research I got it installed by replacing the following lines of the Linux/install.sh script.

(IOW on my system the script didn’t automatically detect the correct platform suffix.

Download the Unified Linux Driver from this page

Extract the unified driver in home

Open terminal and run: sudo nautilus

move to Extracted folder (uld)

Run in the terminal: inistall.sh

In the terminal press Enter then read license press Enter (10 parts carefully)

Open System parameters -> Print -> Add a printer -> Select Samsung ml 2160 -> next -> ok, found draver -> check, print a test page -> happiness
