We recently updated our computers to Windows 8. We had an issue with WAMP on development server on Windows 8. Another issue we had when we updated our computers to Windows 8 was that the drivers for Netgear WG111v3 WiFi USB adapter didn’t work. We couldn’t find them anywhere on Netgear’s website. That meant our computers were without internet! Of course we cannot work without internet so that meant we either find the drivers or revert to Windows 7.
We extracted drivers from the Netgear Windows 7 drivers setup utility and tried installing them manually through device manager. The result? They worked absolutely fine! You can download these drivers by clicking on the following links:
UPDATE – 7/Sep/2013: You can now download the official Windows 8 drivers from Netgear Download Center or by directly clicking on this link. Let us know if that works out for you. Thanks poiku for the hat tip!
UPDATE:- August/2015: These same drivers work flawlessly for Windows 10. Enjoy!

Steve, you’ve to manually install the drivers through device manager.
Would like to thank you for the WG111v3 windows 8 x64 drivers You saved me having to go out and get another dongle when there is nothing wrong with the current one! Many Thanks
Thank you for the quick and painless fix! Works great!
For some reason, the Device Manager tells me that “The system cannot find the file specified” when I try to install the drivers. anybody else had this problem?
Joshua, did you browse to the folder where you unzipped the file downloaded from Violet Pear?
Thanks very much. The driver for Netgear wg111v3 works perfect with Windows8.
I did a quick search on the Internet and as many others we ran into this website for a fixed solution. I’ve downloaded the file. And have my USB wireless device successfully installed and recognized by the system. However, no wireless network found when I’m on my wireless network posting this via my iPad. Please advise me what to do as I’m clueless at this point. Thanks very much.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling. That might help. Good luck!
If this doesn’t work, then
– go to “http://downloadcenter.netgear.com” – search for wg111v3
– download version 1.5.0 .
– after install even the netgear-manager works fine.
apres installation de windows 8 la connection wifi n’est plus possible avec netgear wireless g 54 usb 2 adapter. comment telecharger le driver compatible.
Thank You! You’re the best!
Netgear does not bother to update theirs to accommodate Wins 8.
Thanks a lot. This saved a lot of effort.
Danke, es hat mir sehr geholfen.
Thank you very much for this. I would have been without Internet until it could have been replaced
you just saved my ass
Seriously, thanks you!
For anyone who thinks this is too good to be true, no. This driver really did work for my win8 pc.
One thing though. I actually tried out the 1.5 north america driver from the netgear site before hand and they didn’t work for me. The ones that worked were the x64 win8 ones.
Once again, thanks. And goodluck to anyone else experiencing the same problem.
Thanks! Much easier to install then the Netgear one that doesn’t work. Please keep this page up!
