Установить расширение Transparent panels в Linux Mint Cinnamon

You can install the transparent panel extension https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/e . ns/view/42 via the Extensions settings module for the panel.
For the menu you are looking at a bit of theme editting if you are up for it. It’s fairly sttaighforward. Not at my machine right now to confirm instructions but will check tomorrow and post back.

So if you are editing the theme you may as-well do panel and menu via the edit rather than use the extension for the panel only.
1) Copy /usr/share/themes/Mint-Y-Dark to
/.themes . If the latter isn’t present create the folder.
/.themes/Mint-Y-Dark/cinnamon/cinnamon.css in a text editor
3) To edit the menu transparency navigate to lines 208-213. You will see
Edit the background-color line — 0.99 is the level of opacity.
e.g for 80% opacity
Note this will affect the transparency of all applet popup menus as-well.
4) For the panel navigate to lines 423 to 428
Again edit the background-color line.
e.g for 33% panel opacity.
5) Save your edits and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart Cinnamon / reload the theme.
Hint — anything less than about 80% opacity on the menu will make usability an issue. The panel you can go much lower.

Sometimes just searching the answer to a simple question (Transparent menu) ends up teaching you much more.
Today I just learned how to modify the themes

you may have to download it first.
I have found in the past that it doesn’t work with some themes.

Transparent panels in Linux Mint Cinnamon
By default, in Linux Mint with Cinnamon desktop environment, the system panel is black and opaque. In the settings panel there is no option in the transparency panel, such as in Xfce. But for the cinnamon environment on the special cinnamon-spices extensions website: https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/extensions there are many extensions that serve to extend the possibilities of changing the Cinnamon desktop. If you go to this site, you will find that the first in the list of popular extensions is Transparent panels (current time).
Installing cinnamon extensions is not required from this site. It is enough to open the System Settings => Extensions and go to the Download tab. If you open this tab for the first time, an additional window will open with an offer to update the cache. Click on the Yes button.
After the cache of extensions is loaded from the site https://cinnamon-spices.linuxmint.com/extensions, select the extension Transparent panels and click on the arrow button to Install.
After installing the extension, go to the settings tab, select Transparent panels and click the plus sign (+) button => Enable.
After enabling the extension, your panel will immediately become transparent with shadows.
The Transparent panels extension is customizable. Click the gear icon to open the settings.
In the Settings, in the General section – Type of transparency, you can choose one of the three types of transparency. And when you activate the Use current theme styles, the panel will become black and opaque again.

This would be easier to answer if we knew what theme you want to alter.
It is in the cinnamon.css file. First, make certain you are adjusting that file in the correct theme by finding the cinnamon.css inside of the folder named the same as the theme you want to adjust such as ./(theme-name)/cinnamon/cinnamon.css (one exception, don’t mess with the actual theme named Cinnamon since that is the fallback in case something goes wrong with another theme).
Go to the panel.js section. The exact line depends on which theme you are using and sometimes where the panel is (bottom, top, left, right). You are looking to change the «background-color». Some themes you need to only need to change «#panel» (usually when the panel is truly a single color) but if the theme has different settings for different panel position you need to change the section that corresponds to where your panel such as «.panel-top» (if it is actually a 2 color gradient) and if you have more than one panel you need to change them all.
The color value needs to be rgba where the last number is 0 since the last number is alpha or transparency level. 0 is fully transparent and 1 is fully solid. A decimal number is for semi transparent (translucent, like colored glass) so 0.5 is halfway transparent. The other numbers are values for red, green, blue but if you are making it fully transparent those values mean nothing but if you are only making the panel semi-transparent you will need a color you like.
Remember, it is the background-color you are changing to something like
For fully transparent the only value that means anything is the zero. If it is currently «background-gradient:» you either need to change it to «background-color» and delete the following gradient lines (start and end) or just change the start and end colors so they are both transparent.
If you want to either change the theme named Cinnamon or want to play around with more changes you should copy the theme folder you want to alter and rename it so it will be your theme.
Always report back or mark the thread as solved for the sake of anyone else that might want to do the same if the suggestion works for you.
