После подключения к wifi завершается процесс nm-applet

Сразу после подключения к сети исчезает значок nm-applet в панели.

Пробовал изменить строку «Exec» в /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop на «dbus-launch nm-applet»

Проблема остается. Кто нибудь сталкивался?

Случайно запретил сообщения nm-applet.

Доброго всем времени!

Рука дрогнула и случайно тыкнул в кнопку системного уведомления о подключении к вафле. Угораздило попасть на кнопку «больше не показывать».

Вопрос — необходимо найти нужный конфиг, но где он лежит? Debian 10.1, Xfce. Желательно без гуйных решений. В гугле совсем старые советы, в основном 2012 года +/- пару лет завязанные на gconf, они не работают…

Kde 5 Missing Widget wired connection of NetworkManager

Подскажите, что необходимо сделать чтобы Network widget определял мою сеть? У меня проводной интернет, IP — динамический. Сеть есть, но сам виджет не выдает мне Wired connection. Или эту функцию нужно настраивать через Edit your Network Connections?

Т.е. нужно вот как на скрине — у меня же пусто.

nm-applet и вланы

А давно из nm-applet убрали возможность подключения к вланам? В настройках создать влан-интерфейс можно, а вот подключиться к нему — нет. Через nmtui подключиться можно, но там их редактировать неудобно.

Точно помню, что пару лет назад подключался без проблем. Но то был стабильный дебиан, а сейчас на ноуте манджаро.

Gentoo+Enlightenment как заставить работать nm-applet

Всем привет! В системе установлен NetworkManager, работает. Не получается завести nm-applet. Пакет установлен, но его нет в списке iShelf — «Содержимое полки», при запуске из консоли нет ошибки, но ничего не происходит, значок не появляется.

Крашится nm-applet

Сегодня перезагрузился, теперь nm-applet крашится или через минуту после запуска, или при попытке подключить vpn.

Соответственно wi-fi не работает, только провод. У кого-нибудь есть такие же проблемы? Что делать-то?

Кто настраивал/использует OpenVPN в ubuntu/kubuntu через графические виджеты?

Как-то появилась идея, что постоянно тыкаться в консоль, чтобы активировать и отслеживать VPN — это как-то геморно, и захотелось что-то попроще, посовременнее. Есть же в KDE отличная штука NetworkManager, с огромным количеством опций и настроек, довольно удобная, смотрю и OpenVPN присутствует, значит можно по идее настроить. Так вот, кто-то пользуется OpenVPN из графической программы NM? Как оно себя ведет, стабильно ли работает? Нет ли каких-то подводных камней по сравнению с работой из консоли? И главное — не появится ли каких-то проблем с безопасностью, если настраивать/использовать OpenVPN через NM?

Nm-applet awesome

Debian stretch,awesome из реп.,NM из реп.

Не нравится отображение картинки (слишком мелкое), не самого аплета на панели. А отображения беспроводных сетей. Грешил на gtk3. Короче перепробывал кучу вариантов, удалось костылем решить эту проблему удалением NM и установкой версии из jessie. Может кто в курсе, что там в исходниках этого NM-appleta нужно исправить чтобы оно завелось как положено.

nm-applet, ubuntu

Глупый вопрос, а нужен ли nm-applet в автозагрузке, если и без него работает инет?

Проблемы в Ubuntu 16.04

1. Не подключается pppoe соединение через nm-applet. Можно, конечно, через pppoeconf, но хотелось бы какую-нибудь иконку в трее.

2. Долго, по сравнению с debian stable и testing, запускается chromium, при той же версии браузера, на том же openbox и xfce, на том же оборудовании. Этот вопрос на форуме уже задавал, но ответа на него не было.

3. В процессах иногда появляется, а потом исчезает python3 после загрузки. На openbox-сессии. В автозагрузке ничего лишнего нет.

В debian testing вышеперечисленных проблем нет, но смущает его «нестабильный» статус, да и в xsession-errors слишком много всего пишет. Хотелось бы именно Ubuntu, так как новые версии софта чаще всего собирают именно под неё.

апплет networkmeneger в xfce

Периодически исчезает с панели если кликнуть мышкой по иконке или вообще сам собою. Это лечится?

Попробовал свежайшую Ubuntu 16.04, в ней при подключении к интернету nm-applet не изменяет статус подключения.

Хотя подключение совершилось успешно, но иконка в системном трее не изменила свой вид на лесенку как это было раньше. Ну и несколько сообщений с ошибками выскакивает при загрузке системы. А попробовав Unity 8 я к сожалению не смог подключиться к интернету через свой 3g модем. Хотя радует то, что на этот раз network-manager не удаляется с системы при установке unity 8.

Не показывается выпадающее меню у nm-applet

При нажатии на иконку nm-applet в xmobar не показыватся выпадающее меню.

В консоли вот такую ошибку пишет:

Ощущение, как будто выпадающее меню показывается где-то за пределами монитора.

Не знаю какие логи и настройки показывать. Говорите, буду добавлять.

Интернет через 3g modem. При срыве связи любые попытки произвести повторное соединение заканчиваются неудачей.

Только когда выдернешь модем из usb и обратно вставишь, тогда подключается заново к интернету. Эта проблема на постоянной основе, не зависит от дистрибутива. Кто сталкивался с подобными вещами, помогите решить эту проблему. Ну или хотя-бы помогите оформить багрепорт.

Как подключаться к интернету через nm-applet без ввода паролей?

Просит убунта для подключения интернета аж два пароля: один пароль для разблокировки «связки ключей», а второй пароль дозвона к 3g интернету. Хотелось бы заходить в интернет без ввода паролей.

Попап для паролей wifi в xfce

Тут жене xfce на debian 7 поставил. Проблема что когда к новому wifi подключаешься — нет попапа с запросом пароля, как в том же Gnome. Единственное что нагуглил — что xfce4-notifyd надо, но эта штука уже установлена.

Вопрос: куда копать?

NM в openSUSE 13.2 x86_64

Поставил я сегодня любимую систему, и на удивление все хорошо работает. Да, у меня были гневные отзывы о новой сузи, но оказалось я был не прав (то ли флешка была убитая, или система тогда была очень сырая). Есть одно «но», которое не дает мне покоя — на панели задач мои 2 глаза мазолит значек NM, который не запущен. При установки я убирал чекбокс с NM, но был не внимателен и не тронул шаблоны про интернет:( Компььютер общается с миром через роутер, и всякие посредники вроде NM как бы не нужны. Но я хотел бы извлеч из него какую то пользу или нафиг избавиться от него, подскажите как его запустить, и будет ли он что то показывать? А если нет, как его удалить — он встроен в область уведомлений вроде и с ним удаляются нужные аплеты. Простите ради бога за много букв.

Настройка Wi-Fi через NM — в чем могут быть различия.

Дано: адаптер D-Link System DWA-140 RangeBooster N Adapter(rev.B1) [Ralink RT2870], две виртуалки в которых стоят Ubuntu 14.04 и кажется 12.04, вайфай сетка с WPA/WPA2 шифрованием. В одной системе сетка подключается. В другой — нет. Настройки в nm-аплете идентичные друг-другу. К другой сетки (она правда без шифрования) подключается нормально в обоих системах. В чем может таиться проблема? Куда копать хоть?

LXDE и nm-appet

Интернеты говорят что в LXDE нужно добавить nm-applet в авто загрузку /home/usename/.config/lxsession/LXDE/autostart, но это никак не помогло, а вечто включать из терминала накаляет.

Так же интернеты говорят что можно добавить в авто загрузку по такому пути /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart, но здесь автостарт под пользователем только для чтения. И вот я зашёл под рутом, добавил апплет в автозагрузку и он запустился в панели под рутом, а под пользователем не запускается хотя в пользовательском конфинге он прописан в автозагрузке и там и там. дистр убунту 14.04

I run Linux Mint 13 «Maya» Cinnamon 64 bit, dualbooted via refIT on a 2011 Mac Book Air 11″.

Suddenly by some unknown reason (only thing I can think of is possibly a suspend / power cycle), the nm-applet in the notification area disappeared. Networks which were configured to connect automatically still connects, even after rebooting, but I can not connect to networks which required me to activate them manually (like my 3G modem). The 3G modem works without problem if I boot in to OS X though.

After I go «little up-arrow in notification area > Add/Remove applets > Restore to default», the icon appears again, but only contains the button «Network settings», but does not list any available networks, even though I am actually right now connected to a wireless network that has auto-reconnect configured.

When I click the network settings button in the popup, I get a message saying: «The system network services are not compatible with this version».

NetworkManager itself is running though:

. so it seems that somehow nm-applet lost the connection to NetworkManager.

If I try to run nm-applet manually, I get:

I also tried installing the WiCD network manager:

. but that only lists available wifi networks, and does not work with my 3G modem, so not a solution for me :/

Strange . inspired by the tip in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php . 0#p1141910 , i did change some «deny»:s to «allow», in /etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.conf , and now everything works fine again, after a reboot!

Here is my diff, before and after the change:

In my Mint 13.0 Maya all Network configuration, automatic or manual went away from my control, after being working fine for months in my laptop. No problems in my desktop. Caused by a wrong update ?? No idea. No particular wrong doing (It recalls me the nightmares I suffered using Mint Debian LMDE after rolling updates before quitting it forever: never again in office/productivity systems: keyring and/or legacy nvidia drivers broken for months dealing to reduced usage of my main computer !)

1.- I modified NetworkManager.conf folloging your post, but also deleting a line avoiding line autoconf of MAC addresss of my eth0 card
2.- I did a ‘sudo service network-manager stop’ and a ‘sudo service network-manager start’
3.- The network manager icon re-appeared and is fully functional
4.- At least wired ethernet is now working enabling to update and reinstall packages from the net
5.- After this success I will try to reinstall the whole network support.

ps. I’ve been a long time user of Slackware (I’have the ’94 CD edition. ). I moved to Linux Mint looking for a more simple way to have a functional and always updated office PC, requiring less hand-tunning, and with comfortable dependency-checking and a large package repository. Mint 13.0 was a long term support version. isn’t it ?? Mint 11.0 and 12.0 worked fine, but the Mint’s 6 month cycle was a temptation to upgrade to 13.0. It has lasted only 6 months in my laptop. Linux Mint Debian had been a nightmare: no more retries. I’m thinking to move back to Slackware 14.0/Zenwalk 7.2: their core applications have been stable, or you if prefer less fashionable but delivering. Zenwalk now uses kernel 3.4.x with BFS, so it is more ‘advanced’ than its contemporary Mint 14.0. I will give a try to Mint 14.0 in my wife’s PC. Don’t tell her .

I agree with the above poster.
Leaving windows after 15 years tried ubuntu and just about everything else over the years.
Would have used pure UNiX if it was more supported and not so much resource hungry.

Tried LMDE and on the first install after a package upgrade it broke midway and was never able to boot up again. So that was the end of that.
Linux mint works well if you dont want to mess around and get your system to a higher performance level.
installing simple programs crashes the system slows it down causes a list of endless issues spent 8 hours today trying to recover from a stupid nm-applet error
done every thing from reinstalling cinnamon to purging the files finally i was able to install Lxde and boot into my account.
To tell you the truth its the cinnamon desktop and the way the the root and user account is handled not to mention the way terminal sets everything out for a better experiance. The rest is all eye candy.

A simple script in the recovery option to set every thing back to the original setup if any thing breaks with a fail safe boot option would be great.
mint wont even let me access the cinnamon desktop in fail-safe mode so much for a user friendly desktop.

Shame how all this nagging bugs actually let down a good idea and quite a good operating system.

Debian with some Mint ports looks like the way to go.

How to install and configure NetworkManager and network-manager-applet on Arch Linux with Gnome3

In this article I will describe how to make networkmanager and the network-manager-applet (aka nm-applet) work on Arch Linux with GNOME3. Of course there are other networking-tools available, however I prefer the use of networkmanager and network-manager-applet, because they integrate them selves very well into GNOME3.

Please notice that some parts of this how to were taken from Arch-Wiki-Networkmanager and Arch-Wiki-Beginners-Guide and I highly recommend reading those two articles.

0. Preparations

1. Hosts
   check the configuration of your /etc/hosts file, a valid configuration looks like this:

Devices
You can identify your networking-devices like this:

If your device is not listed, it is maybe an usb-device, so try this command:

With the following command you can check the current state of all your network-devices:

1. Installation

1. Install the wpa_supplicant tools
2. Install the wireless tools
3. Install the networkmanager
4. Install the network-manager-applet aka nm-applet
5. Install gnome-keyring

2. Configuration

Attention: This is the old and by now depricated way, continue at step 4.:

Daemons
Deactivate or remove the previously used network daemon from /etc/rc.conf and add instead the networkmanager daemon, also make sure to comment the network section at the end of the file. It is very important to place the networkmanager after dbus and before any network-services like ntpd. Before applying any of the changes the contents of /etc/rc.conf will look similar to this:

After applying the mentioned changes the file should look like this:

1. Stop the network daemon:
2. Create a new PolicyKit rule
   Create the file /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.pkla with the following contents:

   Attention: This is the new and right way, so leave step 1), 2) and 3) out:

3. Make the networkmanager start on boot:
4. Disable dhcpcd
   Since networkmanager wants to be the one who handles the dhcpcd related stuff, you have to disable and stop dhcpcd:
5. Enable wpa_supplicant, if you want to use your wireless connection:
6. Add your user to the network group:
7. Turn off network interface controllers:
   Turn off your network interface controllers, in my case eth0 and wlan0:
8. Now start wpa_supplicant:
• Finally start the networkmanager:

If you get an error about unreachable D-Bus, just ignore it.
If the networkmanager is not running and network-manager-applet does not show up in your upper GNOME3 panel, try this:

Now at least your wired connection should be working correctly. If not reboot your system. If you have problems with your wireless connection, read the next part of this post 3. Wireless troubleshooting.

3. Wireless troubleshooting

It is very likely that your wireless connection will not work out of the box.
In my case the network-manager-applet asked me in an endless loop for the WPA/WPA2 PSK of my router.

Take a look at the logs
If you take a look at /var/log/daemon.log you will find many repeating entrys like these:

The entrys correspond to the repeated requests of the network-manager-applet for the PSK.
run the following command:

If the output shows you at least two sessions e.g. called Session1 and Session2, than there is something wrong.
Edit .xinitrc
To fix this problem open your

/.xinitrc and change the line:

to:

This should solve the problem with the multiple sessions and your wireless connection should work correctly after rebooting your system. At least this is how I was able to fix my wireless connection.
