После небольшого открытого бета-теста, закончившегося не так давно, Blizzard Entertainment объявила об официальном релизе ставшей уже популярной карточной игры Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, которая отныне доступна всем пользователям Mac (и Windows тоже).

Сама игра, помимо карточного направления, включает в себя стратегические элементы, а всё действие, разумеется, разворачивается в рамках известной вселенной Warcraft. Игроки в любой момент могут бросить вызов своим друзья в Battle.net, погрузившись в атмосферу веселого товарищеского соперничества с треском огня в таверне.

Каждый игрок начинает с начальной колодой из тридцати карт магического вида, а для получения дополнительных карт придется уже проявлять себя на поле боя, дабы успешно выигрывать сражения. Разумеется, для ленивых или нетерпеливых предусмотрен вариант покупок внутри игры, ведь, как никак, Hearthstone распространяется по бесплатной модели.

На выбор представлены сотни уникальных карт, а все колоды строятся вокруг одного героя, который символизирует один из девяти классов в Warcraft (со всеми его индивидуальными заклинаниями, способностями, оружием) и, чаще всего, является знаковым персонажем вселенной (Джайна Праудмур, Гул’Дан, Утер Светоносный и так далее). В любом случае, фанаты и знатоки серии буду в восторге.

По словам разработчиков, игроков ждут невероятные испытания и встреча со старыми знакомыми. После прохождения вводных миссий, вы научитесь управлять своими картами и даже сразитесь с самим Иллиданом Ярость Бури. По мере дальнейшего развития, вам предстоит выигрывать новые карты, покупать отдельные колоды или зарабатывать их в качестве бонусов.

И это еще не всё, ибо после 500 побед за какого-либо героя в рейтинговых матчах, вы получаете его обновленную версию, именуемую «Золотым героем», причем навсегда. Какая от этого польза? Дело в том, что у таких героев появляются уникальные анимации портрета и дополнительное особое умение.

Помимо настольной версии, позже в этом году ожидается выход Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft на iPhone и iPad.

Hearthstone is a World of Warcraft-themed Collectible Card Game or CCG in which you can use various cards in numerous challenging battles against other players.

The rules of this fast-paced strategy card game are pretty simple and very easy to learn. Each player starts with 30 health points and one of the heroes of the core World of Warcraft classes.

Intense and entertaining card based strategy game

Your main objective is to deliver powerful hits to your opponents and reduce the number of health points from 30 to 0 before he takes down your hero.

You can use your manna crystals to summon a wide variety of minions, cast spells and arm your hero. Every game starts with only one crystal but you can gain additional crystals each new round and refill your manna with up to 10 crystals.

Hearthstone offers powerful pre-built decks and numerous additional cards that you can craft, win or purchase in order to expand and improve your collection.

Manna crystal based gameplay

Every card you play will cost you a number of crystals, the better the card the more manna crystals you have to pay. As you draw new cards you can play them and summon creatures or cast spells that you can use to attack your opponent. You can play and combine any cards you like as long as you manage to defeat the other player.

All minions feature different health and attack ratings that you can improve with various cards or spells.You can choose to attack your opponent’s hero or the minions that he thrown in the game.

What is more, minion cards have a variety of special traits such as Windfury, Battlecry, Charge, Taunt, Deathrattle and more. You can use the tool tips to discover what you can do with each ability.

Fast paced and intriguing collectible card game with a vast selection of in-game minions

The overall gaming experience is entertaining and engaging, a fact that makes Hearthstone worth playing in order to sharpen your tactics skills and improve your overall card-based gaming prowess.

An excellent free online card game set in the Warcraft universe

Hearthstone is an online collectible card game (CCG) in which you will face friends and strangers with cards and characters inspired by Warcraft. Remember Magic: The Gathering and Duel of Champions? Well, Hearthstone takes these concepts and makes them (even) more accessible with streamlined rules and controls. While it is primarily a multiplayer game, it is also fun to play alone thanks to its full campaign and excellent tutorial.

An excellent set of simple yet deep cards

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft’s clashes have you battling your opponent with your pre-constructed 15 card deck. The possibilities are enormous thanks to the 9 different classes you can play as, each with their own unique cards. Unlike Duel of Champions and similar games, however, none of your cards are filled with complex rules — Hearthstone is committed to simplicity. The game is very accessible from the start, thanks to its excellent tutorial, but as you advance a depth begins to reveal itself. Never has the expression «simple to learn, difficult to master” been so apt, insuring interesting matches for both new player and veterans: a fact clearly demonstrated by the professional community that has developed around the game.

Besides the straightforward duals seen in other CCG’s, Hearthstone also features an «arena». In this mode (which requires that you pay with money either through earned currency or an in-app purchase), you must build a deck of thirty from a random selection of cards. You then face other opponents one at time until you win 12 matches, or lose three – after which you can claim your reward – creating an intense game mode for players of all abilities.

Thoughtful gameplay

Hearthstone gameplay is well designed to work on all platforms (though on smaller screens cards can be hard to make out). With its basic drag-and-drop controls, you will have the basic down long before you finish the tutorial. Not that this will surprise fans of Blizzard who are renounced for their careful and intuitive design.

Hearthstone’s monetization model is also easy to grasp. You buy packs of cards (boosters) to expand your deck options, coins to face rivals, and expansions to expand the single player campaign. The game’s quest system also allows you to earn in-game currency by finish tasks (such as entering a set number of battles as a specific class). On the whole the game is balanced, meaning purchases are not necessary as long as you are prepared to dedicate some time to it, but those unwilling to part with cash have far more limited strategic options early on.

Hearthstone graphics are superb, all living up to Blizzard’s usual high technical proficiency and attractive in-house aesthetic. The soundtrack follows the same pattern, with well composed, excellent music.

The ultimate in online card game

Warcraft Hearthstone came from now where to sit at the top of the digital CCG pile. The game is interesting and balanced for all players, although it is sad that the players who do not pay tend to be more strategically restricted.
