Connect BOSE SoundSport Free buds to Windows 10 laptop

While I am able to pair my buds with my Windows 10 Surface Pro tablet, there is no option to actually connect them. Normally, I would do this through the Bose Connect app but it appears that the app is not available on the Windows platform.

I have read a couple of suggestions, including one that requires a long process to connect each time I need to use the buds with my laptop, but hoping there are plans to make the app available on Windows 10.

Thanks in advance.

Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth and other devices.

Find your paired Bluetooth device in the list of available devices, and click on it.

Click on the Connect button.

My Solution: «Control Panel» > «Hardware and Sound» > «Devices and Printers» > Under «Devices» right-click the device and «Properties» > Under «Hardware» tab «Properties» > «Change Settings» > Under «Driver» tab «Uninstall Device»

After uninstalling make sure, under «Unspecified» on the «Devices and Printer», the device is also removed by right-clicking and «Remove Device».

Add back the device via «Bluetooth and other device» settings.

Go back to «Control Panel» > «Hardware and Sound» > «Devices and Printers» > Under «Devices» right-click the device and «Properties» > Under «Services» check the «Handsfree Telephony» box and «Apply»

Boom! This prompted a dialog box to connect to my headphones.

Note: For me, uninstalling from device manager did not work. Moreover, I was not able to see nor check the Handsfree box until I uninstalled using the method above.

I will go straight with this one. I am like lots of the Soundsport free owners who has a problems and hard time to connect their earbuds with their computers/laptops.

I tried all the options available in this forum and everywhere else in the internet, but I was unlucky to find the proper solution and couldn’t manage to connect my buds to my Alienware m18x or my custom build computer (Asus Rampage V10 Mother Board).

Here is what it works with me:

  • Windows 10 PRO 64bit (Ver. 1709 – OS Build 16299.371)
  • Bose Soundsport free – Blue Color (January 2018 Release)
  • Broadcom Corp. Bluetooth (Bcbtums – 07/14/2015 – Ver. 12.0.1.659)

1- FROM YOUR COMPUTER/LAPTOP:

  • Be sure that your buds are switch off or keep them in their charger box.
  • Go to Bluetooth menu, buy press the Right click over the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar and choose (Open setting).
  • Check under the Audio section if you can see your buds. Remove the device (Bose soundsport free/ or whatever you name it) which paired with your computer.
  • From the device manager, remove any things related to the Bose soundsport free buds. If you tried to connect your buds to your computer you should see 1 or 2 drivers under Bluetooth section. Uninstall it. Please note, that if you rename your buds in the BOSE CONNECT APP, you should see the drivers under that name. You also may not see any drivers since your already delete the paired buds from the Bluetooth menu.

2- FROM YOUR SMART DEVICE:

  • You need to make sure that your buds are connected successfully to your smart device. Also, double check that BOSE connect app can find your buds.
  • If you have trouble connecting your buds to your smart device, try to remove the buds from the Bluetooth menu (Forget this device in IOS).
  • Make sure bose connect app is killed from the background.
  • Make sure your smart device Bluetooth is switch on.
  • Your buds should be in their charging box at this point.
  • Open bose connect app, then take out your buds from their charging box.
  • Drag down to connect, select your buds from the menu (Select an accessory). Your buds should be connected successfully to your smart device.
  • Press over the GEAR on the top right of bose connect app.
  • Press over connection.
  • You will see you buds in the top. Switch of you buds and confirm the disconnect.
  • Close and Kill bose connect app.
  • On your left bud, press 10 second until you hear the sound (Bluetooth devices cleared).

3- Back to your computer/laptop:

  • Repeat the second step from number 1 step.
  • Click over the + (Add Bluetooth or other device).
  • Choose the kind of your device, you should press over Bluetooth.
  • Wait until you see your bose soundsport buds under the list. Then select it.
  • Wait for a minute until Windows finish downloading/installing the necessary drivers.
  • You can see now under the Bluetooth menu in the audio section, that you bose soundsport free is connected to your computer under the description (Connected Voice, Music).

Your Bose soundsports free buds are connected 100% with no issue to your computer/laptop.

Don’t forget to increase the volume up, since after these steps the sound will be at 50%.

If you lose the connection between your buds and computer/laptop, you need to repeat each and every step above. Also (But I didn’t try it yet) you need to repeat all those steps even if you connect your buds to your smart device.

Also, don’t forget to remove the old connection always from your smart device Bluetooth menu, if you find troubles to connect it to bose connect app. (Check the second step from number 2 step).

If you have any other problems I will be more than happy to help as much as I know. I spend more than 3 days trying to figure this out, even BOSE them self they don’t know this solution.

Bose soundsport free windows 10

I read about 5 blogs in this website with no real solution to this problem.

Im very dissapointed in this company as it it claims to use the latest reserach and development in DSP and yet lacks simple bluetooth protocols.

A $2 ebay chinese bluetooth earbuds can probably have bettter and more reliable bluetooth connection.

Im so surpirsed the engineers or the product manager released this product with such a huge bug.

Anyone can please help me? and please dont send me to another forum that says to turn on and off your bluetooth or clear the lists.

I have a pair of Bose SoundSport Free since couple of months ago, and just today thought to use them with my notebook, my connection issue was the left ear piece wasnt connecting via BT, while the right one was connected, stable but Mono sound. I digged around for quick fix, and some searches across some posts, and found lot of people like you are suffering from similar issues. The solution I reached is in this link https://www.reddit.com/r/bose/comments/79ff6a/soundsport_free_and_windows_10/

you have to make some changes.

1- un-pair your Bose SoundSport Free

2- Through Bose Connect from your mobile device — rename the set to any other name.

3- Reconnect your Bose again to windows 10,

4- It works now stable and stereo,

The main issue I figured out is windows recognizing two channels (R + Mic) of the set not three channels as it is designed (L+ R+ Mic).

This fix will change the windows recognition of this set from Headset into Headphones.

You still can switch from the volume icone between Headset (R+Mic) into Headphones (L+R).

Hope this quick fix works with all of you and enjoy listening to Bose again.

Can you tell me whats happening, if your only getting sound in the right ear you might want to try this to see if it works.

1. Make sure you have unpared your earbuds from your computer

2. Have your case ready, turn of your earbuds by plugging them in and take them out when they turn of in the case

3. Press the function button until both earbuds are in pair mode (blue light blinking)

4. Then put the RIGHT earbud back in the case leaving you with the LEFT earbud in your hands now blinking red

5. Open up your bluethooth setting and press «Add Bluetooth or other device» button, click Bluetooth

6. Now take out the RIGHT earbud out of the case, turn it on and switch it to pair mode.

7. If both earbuds dont blink blue, keep trying to press both the buttons on both earbuds until they both show blue lights

8. Now try to find your device name in the pair list on your computer and pair with the device

I feel you, been trying to fix this thing for over 2 weeks, atleast try this too see if it works,
