Magic Mouse 2’s scrolling not working in Windows 10 [EXPERT FIX]
Magic Mouse is an Apple mouse that users can also utilize within Windows 10. However, some users have stated in forums that Magic Mouse scrolling doesn’t work in Windows 10. Those users can move the cursor with the mouse but can’t scroll down windows.
Why Apple’s Magic Mouse 2 scroll is not working? Firstly, install AppleWirelessMouse64.exe driver from Boot Camp. These drivers seemingly work with Windows 10 perfectly and make the mouse fully functional in Windows 10. If that doesn’t help, install the Magic Utilities client application or uninstall conflicting software.

Fix Magic Mouse 2’s scrolling not working in Windows 10
1. Install AppleWirelessMouse64.exe From Boot Camp
- A lot of users have fixed Magic Mouse scrolling by reinstalling the driver for the mouse from Boot Camp. To do that, users will need to download Boot Camp by clicking Download on the Boot Camp Support software page.
- Open File Explorer’s window by pressing the Windows key + E hotkey.
- Next, open the folder that includes the downloaded BootCamp ZIP.
- Select the BootCamp ZIP, and click the Extract all button.
- Click Browse to choose a folder to extract the ZIP file to.
- Select the Extract option.
- Open the \BootCamp5.1.5621\BootCamp\Drivers\Apple path in File Explorer.
- Click AppleWirelessMouse64.exe in the Apple folder to reinstall the driver.
2. Install Magic Utilities
Users have confirmed they’ve fixed Magic Mouse 2 scrolling with Magic Utilities. There’s a 28-day trial package of Magic Utilities users can try out. After that, however, users will need to purchase a one or two-year subscription for the software. This is how users can add Magic Utilities to Windows.
- Click MagicUtilities-Setup-3.0.7.0-Win10.exe on the software’s download page to get the installer for Windows 10.
- Open the Magic Utilities setup wizard.
- Select the NO, my computer is not an Apple computer option.
- Restart Windows after installing Magic Utilities.
3. Uninstall Conflicting Software
More general mouse scrolling errors can be due to conflicting third-party software. So, some users might need to uninstall conflicting third-party mouse software to fix Magic Mouse 2’s scrolling. Follow the guidelines below to remove conflicting software.
- Right-click the Start button and select Run.
- Enter ‘appwiz.cpl’ in Run and click OK to open the uninstaller window.
- Then selecting any third-party mouse software listed there that might conflict with Magic Mouse.
- Select the Uninstall button to remove the selected software.
- Alternatively, users can clean boot Windows to ensure there isn’t any software conflicting with Magic Mouse. To do that, enter ‘msconfig’ in Run and click OK.
- Select the Selective startup, Load system services, and Use original boot configuration options on the General tab.
- Deselect the Load startup items check box.
- Select Hide all Microsoft services check box on the Services tab.
- Then press the Enable all button, and select the Apply option.
- Click OK to close the System Configuration utility, and then press the Restart button.
The above resolutions will probably fix Magic Mouse 2 scrolling for most users. If further fixes are needed, however, it might be a hardware issue. In which case, users can return Magic Mouse 2 peripherals to Apple for repairs so long as they fall within their one-year warranty period.

I like to inform you that this issue might occur because of incorrect settings or incompatible drivers. Let’s try to follow the below mentioned steps and check if that helps.
Method 1: Hardware and devices troubleshooter
The built-in hardware and devices troubleshooter can automatically detect and fix most of the incorrect settings and errors that could cause issues with hardware. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if there is any issue with the display adapter. Refer top these steps:
1. Press “Windows key + X” Open “Control Panel”
2. Click on Troubleshooting and select the view all option on the left pane.
3. Click on Hardware and devices troubleshooter and follow the prompts.
Method 2: If the issue persists, update the device driver from Device manager by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.
- Press Window logo + X keys on the keyboard and select Device manager from the context menu.
- Expand Keyboard option to update keyboard drivers and Mice and other pointing devices for mouse drivers.
- Right click on the driver and select Update this software option from the context menu.
- Follow the on-screen instruction and wait for the update to complete.
- After the update is complete, check if the changes are effective.
Method 3: If the issue persists, I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

Unfortunately, I still have to run Windows occasionally as some software for work only runs in Windows. I’ve upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Seems the scrolling capability in the Magic Mouse has «disappeared» in W10. Any suggestions to get it back?

did you install the bootcamp drivers required to use the various apple spec stuff after you installing w10 ?
if not do that, officially only win8.1 is supported so you have to hope the win8.1 drivers works otherwise you need to wait for next version of bootcamp

You just need to reinstall the Boot Camp driver for the mouse in Windows 10. I was experiencing the same issue and did a quick reinstall of just the mouse driver.
I already had a folder with the lasted Boot Camp drivers on my Windows drive. I just went to the folder, and then went to the path BootCamp/Drivers/Apple and double-clicked on the AppleWirelessMouse64 driver to install.

Just reinstalling the Apple Wireless Mouse driver didn’t work for me. However, I did a complete Bootcamp driver reinstall and that did the trick. It turned out that it was the Bluetooth driver I needed. For some reason before the reinstall Windows 10 wasn’t even listing Bluetooth devices in its Settings.

I did not update the drivers and directly installed windows 10(as there was this option comiing on the bottom right of my screen).
Then after installing i realised that the scrolling is not working.
I read everywhere that apple has released the drivers to support windows 10.
Does this mean i have to update the drivers and then again reinstall windows on my mac? i dont want to do that. its a long process.

Now that the drivers are updated and support windows 10, what do i have to do so as to make the mouse scrolling work on my windows 10?
i have already installed windows 10 i.e before the bootcamp driver’s update were released by apple.

Why does every place I go to recommend this link? All they have there is «Open Bootcamp Assistant and download a 600Mb disc image onto a drive you need to format for this purpose»
How does that compare with «How to fix the mouse driver?»
All I want is a link to the download, not instructions on how to go to the store to buy a new flash drive, come home, boot to my Mac and create an installation partition, download the Windows ISO and and and and. i just want the drivers. Is there no way to get the drivers only?

Has anyone got a resolution to this. I have tried various. Only thing I find that works is Magic Mouse Utilities which you can trial for 30 days. I have tried the ‘brigadier’ fix and also installing the drivers from the latest bootcamp. Anyone got any tried and tested resolution?

its a 2019 MacBook Pro. So the mouse connects via bluetooth fine and I can operate the mouse with mouse movement and left and right clicking. The issue is there is no scrolling with the mouse. As I eluded to earlier, the mouse works in all aspects with the Magic Mouse Utility.
The issue is only on Windows 10 bootcamp, it works fine on MacOS. Hope this is the information you were after.

Do you have the Apple Multi-Touch driver installed? On my Mac, it is working properly, and I can scroll, by moving my fingers up and down the glass surface.

I have had a USB connected to it previously but currently there is only the Magic Mouse. I currently have Magic Mouse Utilities (MMU) installed which I am using the trial version and it operates the mouse as it should ie with the scrolling. When this is turned on (I have been disabling it for trouble shooting), what I have noticed is that I get the attached in dev man. Also if I disable MMU after the mouse connects and is working fine, the mouse will continue to work fine until next re-boot and then I only get the mice as per my previous posting. So it looks like it is definitely the lack of the ‘on Apple Muti-Touch’ driver that is missing unless I have MMU activated.

Apple Magic Mouse 2 not scrolling — Magic Mouse 1 works! (Windows 10 / PC)
I have been using an Apple Magic Mouse «1» for quite some time now on my Windows 10 PC and I was very content except the damn batteries that needed replacing every once in a while. So I bought an Apple Magic Mouse 2. Shouldn’t be that difficult, right? Disconnect the «1», connect the «2» and go!
Nope. The mouse works fine except it doesn’t scroll.
- I’ve (re)installed the latest AppleWirelessMouse64.exe from the Bootcamp support software (tried both 5.1.5722 and 5.1.569) and also the BlueTooth driver.
- I’ve tried switching the mouse off and on again (disconnecting, reconnecting), rebooting, unpairing and (re)pairing
- I’ve tried MagicUtilities; at first it installed but then my mouse became near unusable. The pointer would jump instead of move with second+ intervals, the mousebutton(s) didn’t react to anything. Even not after rebooting, again trying all of the above with pairing, unpairing, switching off and on etc. On boot the mouse worked fine; I could click and move it without issue until MagicUtilities loaded (in the taskbar). Then it seemed to break. So I then uninstalled the software. However the mouse still kept «jumping». It turns out MagicUtilities also installs a driver
but doesn’t uninstall itdidn’t remove it in my situation. Uninstalled the driver manually, which failed for some reason on several occasions, but, a couple of reboots and «persuading» later I had my mouse (or mice) finally back to where I got started.
But, still, the MM1 scrolls just fine, the MM2 doesn’t want to. Here’s some more of my findings:
Both mice connected doesn’t seem to cause any trouble but, for every step above, I also tried with only the MM1 or MM2 connected.
When only the MM1 is connected and I open the Mouse settings it has a «scroll-wheel» tab. When the MM2 is the only mouse connected the tab disappears. When both are connected the tab shows.
When I go to the hardware tab there’s a difference between both mice’s «location». One, the MM1, shows «On Apple Wireless Mouse», the other, MM2, shows «On Bluetooth HID-device».
Since I’ve exhausted all of my ideas (I also tried looking at the registry to find differences etc. (didn’t change anything ofcourse)) I tried to go back to giving MagicUtilities another, rather reluctantantly, shot; however: it won’t install anymore: » The required Magic Mouse Driver installation failed. Error code is -2147418112 «. Again, I’ve tried rebooting etc. but that doesn’t help anything.
Oh, I have even tried:
- Connecting the MM2 to my MacBook air. Scrolling works fine. Ofcourse.
- Since my MM1 has a name like » » I even tried renaming the MM2 to » » on the MacBook and then going back to my PC, connecting the MM2 (solely) and hoping it would pick up the MM1’s settings. To no avail, as expected. But there’s always that little spark of hope.
- Disabling Bluetooth Battery Monitor, thinking it may interfere somehow. Didn’t make any difference. It does, however, report two mice and two battery levels which is nice.
So now I’m sitting here, at my desk, with a MM1 and MM2, simultaneously (and consecutively) connected and working all fine and dandy EXCEPT for the frikkin’ scroll on the MM2 whereas my MM1 scrolls just fine. Thats €89 down the drain.
So. now what? Anybody with the tip to get my beloved MM2 to work on my Win 10 64bit machine?
